Hey so.
Rhythm and Hues, the VFX company that made all of Life of Pi’s CGI, filed for bankruptcy two weeks before the Oscars. There are a lot of reasons for this but some of the main ones were the negotiation tactics used by the studios, including refusing to pay their invoices by a certain time - meaning that they would often wait months to pay. When the R&H award winners tried to mention this at the show, they were played off a full 10 seconds sooner than anyone else.
It is the fourth VFX company to fold this year.
Suck it, Hollywood.
